The recent blizzard here dropped 18 inches of wind-blown snow. Outside our door it drifts up to 3 feet and across the way there is only 3 or 4 inches on the ground. The cold weather has preserved it all week so it's still beautiful going into 1/1/11. Happy New Year everyone!

It's pretty snowy here today. A good day to stick to my drawing board. I'm working on a Fall landscape that's coming along well.

My attempt lately is to abstract my landscapes more. I feel it's important to be able to do them realistically before trying to go more abstract. Because then the abstraction is more informed and has the structure needed to give it strength.

I think a walk over to the local Nature Center would be a nice idea today.

Taking the time to enjoy nature is a great way to relax and lower stress. But if you can't get outside that much or the weather is too bad to do it, a landscape on your wall can bring you there.
